UN Conference on the Global Crisis

The UN General Assembly has now agreed on the terms of a UN Conference to address the financial crisis and its impacts on development. The Conference that will be held from 1 to 3 June 2009, will be “at the highest level”, and will have a concise outcome document which is to be agreed by Member States. The Report of the Commission of Experts on Reforms of the International Monetary and Financial System is expected to form the basis for the draft outcome document. Click here for more.

 

On 18-19 May 2009 a preparatory event is planned in the run-up to the Conference. The UNCTAD 2009 Public Symposium: “The Global Economic Crisis and Development: the Way Forward”, organized by UNCTAD in collaboration with NGLS is being held in the Palais des Nations, Geneva.
