Families and communities are reeling from the economic crisis. But so far all the “bright ideas” on how to fix things have come from corporate executives, bankers and brokers--the same people who got us into this mess. The PSI affiliate National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE Canada) has organized a campaign to bring Canadians from all walks of life into the discussion about the current economic crisis and the future of our country. The campaign, called A People's Response to the Economic Crisis, is a way for busy but concerned people like you to make your voice heard and provide our governments with a better picture of the real effects of the recession on all of us. It’s also a way for us to ensure that our governments find solutions that work for everybody. The union wants to hear what you have to say on two specific things: How is the economic recession affecting your family and community? And what should our governments be doing to create jobs and help vulnerable families? You can make your voice heard online at www.peoplesresponse.ca You can also attend one of the many "Community Summits" that are being held across the country. To find out dates and locations for the summits please visit www.peoplesresponse.ca and check out the calendar of events.
